“Nothing in life is to be feared.
It is only to be understood.”
Marie Curie
Fear is a two-sided emotion. It is a mechanism to protect us from real danger yet it is also a roadblock to fulfillment if allowed to roam undisciplined. Somewhere in between the two emotions is the understanding of how to use it to our advantage.
Let me confess right now. I’m the author, steward and diplomat of this forum and I have phone fear. Had it all my life especially during my sales days, and have it today as I write about it. Having fessed up, I’ll now declare that the fear, while still there, doesn’t hold me back any longer. Most people that I’ve spoken with who are successfully making difficult calls day-in and day-out still have the fear like me. They have developed methods for moving past the debilitating fear and are achieving their dreams and successes.
Phone Fear is just like a fear of monsters, fear of darkness, fear of public speaking, or a fear of the number 13. Irrational. Phone Fear is just a branch of BIG FEAR, a root on the big tree of FEAR. And this site is not equipped to go to the headwaters of FEAR and fix it. That’s a job for the doctors.
What this site IS intended to do is to help anyone understand that phone fear, even as widespread as it is, is pretty easy to overcome if you understand it.
Hence, the reason for this site. The posts and comments are here to get you to pick up the phone without nervousness, without nausea, trembling, or other manifestations of suffering . Nothing more, nothing less.
I hope you enjoy it and I hope to hear from you.
